LECTURE ON THE SILK ROAD AT THE TRAKOŠĆAN CASTLE
LECTURE ON THE SILK ROAD AT THE TRAKOŠĆAN CASTLE

Connections between East and West have for centuries encouraged the exchange of knowledge and innovation. The development of trade in the 13th century is particularly linked to the Silk Road, along which explorers such as Marco Polo travelled. The lecture by Prof. Feng Zhao will explore an engaging topic: silk patterns and how they traveled thousands of kilometers, leaving their marks on clothing and on the coats of arms of European nobility, including those who lived in Trakošćan.
Dr. Feng Zhao is the Honorary Director of the National Silk Museum in Hangzhou (China) and one of the world’s leading experts on historical textiles and the cultural connections formed along the legendary Silk Road. He also collaborated on the exhibition The Miraculous Journey to the East, held at the Trakošćan Castle Gallery.
The lecture will take place on Saturday, June 27 at 4:00 PM in the Ground Floor Gallery of Trakošćan Castle, and will be delivered in English. For interested colleagues, Trakošćan Castle has also organized bus transportation from Zagreb; registration is required via the link provided below.
