ICOM SEE MEMBER MATIJA DRONJIĆ TAKES PART IN A RESEARCH PROJECT IN REPUBLIC OF KOREA

Matija Dronjić, curator of the Ethnographic Museum in Zagreb, ICOM Croatia’s board member and a member of ICOM SEE Regional Alliance, is participating in the Cultural Partnership Initiative Program under the auspices of Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as an exchange curator and a guest researcher in the National Folk Museum of Korea. During his five months stay he’s joining a research group involved in Museum’s “Word Folk Project”, which is designed to serve as international platform that is providing different perspectives on specific issues regarding the cultural heritage. His research revolves around Korea’s intangible cultural heritage safeguarding practices, experiences and challenges, and its goal is to gain an insight on county’s safeguarding framework, as well as to identify both good examples and specific challenges. The aim of this undertaking is to produce a comparative study based on research results and Croatian examples that’ll define set of guidelines for reassessment, improvement and further development of safeguarding frameworks of both countries.
