The second workshop of the international project “Heritage on Stage: Events in Museum Venues” was held at the Hungarian Open Air Museum in Szentendre on 16–17 September 2026. Entitled Key Risks, the workshop addressed the challenges and risks involved in hosting events in museums and heritage sites.

Through keynote presentations, case studies and a round-table discussion, participants considered issues of collection and site protection, environmental and physical impacts of events, financial sustainability, the relationship between commercial activities and museums’ core missions, accessibility, ethical and reputational considerations, and legal aspects of event organisation.

The round table on key risks associated with museum income-generating services brought together museum professionals and representatives of partner organisations from Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Latvia. The workshop once again demonstrated the value of international exchange in developing responsible and sustainable approaches to the use of museum and heritage venues.
