Call for Posters for the conference “Mediterranean Heritage Communities” [Bari (ITA) / 17–19 APR 2026] Conference
Dear colleagues,
At the request of ICOM Italy, ICOM SEE is pleased to share the international Call for Posters for the conference:
“Mediterranean Heritage Communities: Alliances, Common Horizons, Perspectives in the Adriatic and Ionian Macro-Region”
The conference will take place in Bari, 17–19 April 2026, in the framework of the ICOM Italy National Assembly.

The Conference approaches the Mediterranean not only as a geographical area, but also as a cultural and epistemological space, where the heritage presented in museums results from conscious choices and participatory practices involving local communities from different contexts, linked by shared affinities and mutual influences.
The Call for Posters aims to open the Conference to a wide range of positive experiences in this field, particularly in relation to the following sub-themes:

The power of narratives

Transnational projects and cooperation
-
Which Mediterranean do museums present today, and from what perspective?

Caring for heritage with communities: examples of public–private management
Submission guidelines:

Abstracts: max. 500 words, with up to 3 images

Submission deadline: 23 March 2026, 16:00 CET

Proposals should be sent to: comunicazione@icom-italia.org

Abstracts must be submitted using the template provided on the webpage

Official language of proposals: English
Posters will be selected by the Scientific Committee based on their relevance to the conference themes. Authors will be notified by 30 March 2026, and selected posters will be displayed at the conference venue. Abstracts will also be published in the conference proceedings.
