ICOM PRESIDENT SUAY AKSOY GAVE A LECTURE IN CROATIA
NEW MUSEUM DEFINITION FOR THE NEW PARADIGM FOR MUSEUMS IN THE 21ST CENTURY
ICOM President dr. sc. Suay Aksoy has visited several countries in the region of the South East Europe in order to send strong messages around the International Museum Day.
After Belgrade and Ljubljana she has stopped in Zagreb and gave lecture at the Mimara Museum. The lecture was followed by the Panel on New Museum Definition and Changing Paradigm for Museums in the 21st C. Century. Besides President of ICOM the experts from Croatia participated as panelists – Dr. sc Hrvoje Manenica, Assistant Minister of Culture, Dr. sc. Darko Babić, Chair ICOM Croatia and ICTOP and Maja Kocijan Director of the Museum Documentation Center in Zagreb. The panel was moderated by Goranka Horjan, ICOM SEE Chair and hosted by Mimara Museum represented by the Director Lada Ratković Bukovčan In order to remain closer to the communities museums are tackling great number of relevant topics and mitigate global problams. They also rethink the value of collections, museum engagement and ethical boundaries. New museum definition project has been started by ICOM in order to detect what are the relevant contributions and current trends. president Aksoy presented several new suggestions to the audience and announced further discussions during the ICOM Kyoto General Conference in September 2019.
